Housing stock varies a lot across these counties, and it changes what a contractor expects to find. Older neighborhoods in Salt Lake and Ogden commonly have thin, settled, or unevenly distributed attic insulation and rim joists that nobody has touched. Newer subdivisions in Utah and Davis counties tend to have their weak points somewhere else, in bonus rooms over garages, cantilevered floors, and knee walls. Neither pattern is a rule, which is why somebody still has to go look at your particular house.
